AC-KPV-NH2 is the smallest active tripeptide fragment of α-MSH. In laboratory and animal models it is associated with engaging melanocortin-linked pathways and dampening pro-inflammatory cytokine signalling, which is linked to a calmer inflammatory microenvironment in skin and barrier tissue. Its relevance to human tissue healing is studied but not established.
